Wall-Sized Game Boy Plays Mr. Game and Watch Using Arduino
Ready and waiting rooms are really boring, and the year's worth of Sports Illustrated or Time Magazine back issues nates only when last so long. How are geeks supposed to keep themselves amused? How does a massive fence in-affixed Game Boy sound?
The folks from 21tanks, a creative getup based in Olivedale, South Africa, were talking with Tobie Nortje of House 4 Hacking. 21tanks wanted something to spruce up its reception area, and the word eventually led the idea of having an HDTV that anyone could use to take on retrospective games while they waited.
Luckily, Nortje knows a little something about wiring put together a faux Nintendo using Arduino. So he set up an overage monitor into a Game Male child-wish housing with an outsized D-Launch area and two buttons.
The controls are wired to an Arduino board that receives push button presses and sends serial commands to a PC running a python script. Lag, the PC runs the games inactive of Pica Pic in a Web web browser, victimization the Arduino-settled buttons in place of a keyboard.
